United States of America: Proposed renewal of steel import monitoring program

On March 2, 2002, President George W. Bush authorized the implementation of a steel import licensing and monitoring program by issuing Proclamation 7529, which placed temporary tariffs on certain steel imports. The monitoring system required all importers of steel products to obtain a license from the Department of Commerce prior to completing Customs entry summary documentation.
